Lateral CCTV Inspection
Lateral Launch Inspection System
JTV, Inc. owns and operates a custom CCTV Sewer Inspection truck equipped with a mainline pan & tilt camera with a secondary CCTV inspection system capable of inspecting sewer laterals launched from the sewer main. Now, a CCTV inspection of a sewer line between manholes can now include CCTV inspections of connected laterals.
The unit is controlled from a climate controlled studio within the truck, with the operator monitoring the inspections on two independent screens. Video from each camera is recorded in digital format for later review on standardized industry recording software.
Why Inspect Sewer Laterals?
CCTV sewer line inspections are performed to determine the current pipe conditions and / or data for planning a sewer rehabilitation project. Since connected sewer laterals provide flow to the main sewer line, the condition of sewer laterals should not be overlooked. Sewer laterals connect the main sewer to the property line (normally from the middle of the street to the sidewalk) with compatible age to the main sewer line. Including laterals in a single rehabilitation project is a more economical project than an additional, separate lateral rehabilitation project.
The Lateral Launch CCTV system has a maximum inspection range of 120 feet from the main - lateral connection point. The Lateral Launch CCTV camera head has self-contained LED lights to illuminate pipes up to 10 inches in diameter. The Lateral Launch CCTV camera head contains a radio transmitter (sonde) that is useful for plotting the path of the sewer lateral from the surface above with a locator.
All JTV, Inc.'s operators are NASSCO - PACP (Pipeline Assessment Certification Program) trained with additional LACP (Lateral Assessment Certification Program) and MACP (Manhole Assessment Certification Program) inspector training certifications.
The six-wheel drive tractor has a standard pan & tilt color camera with LED lights mounted at the front to perform standard pipeline inspections. On the top, at the middle of the tractor is a holder / drive mechanism use to insert the lateral launch camera and to push the camera up the lateral.
